A Young Life Story

I was first introduced to YL when I was a Jr. in high school. A friend from my track team invited me to go with her to Club and Campaigners. I grew up going to church, but there was something distinctly different about YL that made an impact on my faith and life. It was a place I not only had a ton of fun at, but it was a place I could invite friends to come with me to that would never have come with me to church. Club was every Monday night & you could always count on having fun, singing loudly with friends to silly songs, laughing at whatever crazy game was played that week. Everyone was included, anyone who came belonged and was seen by caring adults who were there to answer questions & build relationships with us. One of my first leaders was a teacher & coach at my HS who to this day still sends me Christmas cards every year from Alaska where she now lives.

It was through Young Life in HS that I grew in my faith through Bible studies or "cabin time" as we called it after camp. Campaigners on Friday mornings before school were spent worshipping together with kids from all different groups/grades in our HS & praying for our school & friends. To this day two of my best friends 20+ years later I met there. 10 years after HS, I found out one of my freshmen teammates from my track team I invited to camp gave her life to Christ that summer. She had shared her story with a local YL group of how it started with an invite to camp from her track captain. I pray that we can grow YL and WyldLife in Hillsboro to have the eternal impact on every kid in Hillsboro by building relationships that will introduce kids to Christ, help those who know Christ strengthen their faith, & continue to share the love of Jesus.
